Too scary and gross to be true....right?!

Question: My sister told me that she saw a news story about a year ago where they exposed how the employees in toothbrush factories got really dirty with the new brushes before packaging.

She said that they scratch their heads, armpits, and uhm...other places with them.

She told me to always disinfect a new toothbrush before using it.

Do you think it's true? Are there toothbrush factory employees out there laughing at us? I am totally grossed out.

I doubt it is a common practice due to regulations and quality control people, but you would never eat again if you really knew what happened to all of your food before it hit your plate.

I worked at the laboratory of Campbell Soup for one summer while in college and I can tell you from personal experience that no matter how hard they tried to control all aspects of the food production there was always something nasty that got through. Even though it filtered out just the thought of the blood and other fluids of rodents and whatnot in the food made me never eat that stuff again. It wasn't so much what Campbell's was doing they have super strict regulations and quality control, but from the growers they bought the stuff from. All kinds of garbage is thrown in with the vegetables used to make the soups. From condoms to frogs from candy wrappers to rats.

That's not true...but bacteria and germs do get into the packaging so you should disinfect the brush anyway.

im sure it can be true, idk anything is possible. but i wonder if those people laugh when they brushe THEIR teeth or THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS brush theirs cuz face it , everyone uses them!

NOT TRUE. Toothbrushes are manufactured by machines. Humans NEVER have any contact with them.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if toothbrush factory employees do things to toothbrushes. Have you ever seen shows on what some people do to food you order in restaurants?
Not a bad idea to disinfect something before using it.

No. Theoretically, it could be true.... but it is highly unlikely.

If you're paranoid, then pour rubbing alcohol on your toothbrush, run it under hot water, then brush your teeth. If it WERE true, then there would be reports of people getting sick.
