it doesn't really stretch your lips it more just keeps them out of the way. it does not hurt at all, and don't let it bother you. the first attempt i tensed up and had a mental breakdown and they had to pull everything out. the second attempt i just relaxed and didn't think about it, i may have even fallen asleep, and it went just fine. so just relax and let them do their thing, you will have a beautiful smile
