Latex in glue?!

Question: is there latex in any types of glue...specifically the kind of glue used to hold on braces?

ive had braces for a while but i just got 2 little claws on the back of my front teeth so now the glue is in constant contact with my tongue and my tongue is very itchy...i am allergic to latex so i was wondering if that might be why my tongue itches

I would guess that the physical irritation of the "claws" and the fact that they are new and therefore interesting to your tongue are probably to blame.

If your brackets have been on a while and you haven't had trouble, you aren't allergic to dental adhesives.

i dont recall really.. generally talc can also cause alergy? get an MSDS ( material safty data sheet) from you orthodontist to make sure theres nothing in there thats causeing the pain... how about the rubber bands? do you have those yet? do you have "spacers" all of these have some sort of rubber in them which could cause your allergy... talke to the Doc to get to the bottom of it... good luck hope you feel better

The "air inhibited layer" of the glues are a known irritant, but do not contain latex (if we get it in contact with the gums, the gums temporarily turn white) This is a temporary feature with new glue. Bushing around the glue area really well helps to remove the air inhibited layer.
Good luck
