Swollen gum?!


Question: I got my tooth pulled about 20 minutes ago and now its very swollen in the gum thats behind the tooth. I have to bite on a cotton puff so i wont feel the gum. Is there any way to get the swelling down?

You've just had major trauma to the area. Swelling is normal and will subside within a day or two. Remember that an extraction is pulling something out that is attached to your jawbone by many ligaments. Even if it's a "simple extraction" it's still trauma. Don't worry for now....the swelling will go down. Just make sure you follow their instructions for post-op. :)
