My Little Sister Fell over, and knocked her tooth, and it has gone slightly grey!

Question: Is there anything anyone can do? Aparently something's happened to the nerve...

Call your dentist. As soon as you can.

She may not be in pain, but her tooth needs to be looked at. When a young tooth is injured, it's important that a dentist evaluate the damage - the nerve may need to be removed and root canal therapy initiated to save the tooth.

Discoloration, especially grey, indicates that the nerve has been damaged and the blood vessels inside the tooth have ruptured. This will not remedy on it's own and should be addressed by a dentist.

The tooth is probably dead or at least damaged. Is it a baby tooth? If so, there isn't much you can do. Just wait until it falls out and her permanent one could have a slight mark on it if the hit were hard enough. If it is a permanent tooth, she needs to see her dentist (she should anyway) to verify the condition with an xray. She will probably need a root canal and she could have a veneer or crown if the discoloration bothers her.

What are you thinking take her to the dentist!!!

Tooth turning grey after trauma is a sign of nerve death or (pulp necroses). your worst case scenario is the tooth getting fused to the bone due to trauma and nerve death, and if it's a baby tooth, this will cause tons of problems when her permanent teeth are ready to come out.
It's important that she sees a dentist, at least for evaluation of the damage, depending on her age, and what tooth traumatized, he might elect to watch the tooth and not do anything about it, or start the treatment immediately if he feels the tooth preservation is needed to support her bite.

Baby teeth often get clunked and go gray. Unlike adult teeth, they can often stay vital and pose no problem. If a pimple appears on the gum above the tooth, then it needs treatment. Everything else fits into the category of "need to wait for the permanent tooth to come in to see if anything happened"

My just-about-to-turn 2 year old bashed his tooth, bleeding around the gum, turned grey. this happened about 3 months ago. I just got around to taking the xray back on Sunday. (mostly because I could) The tooth is fine AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, since baby x-rays are hard to read. Now we just need to wait until he's 5 or 6 to see if anything happened!! Relax, panicky people just scare the kid more.
