Can a filling on the bottom tooth cause pain to the tooth above it?!

Question: I recently had a filling done on one of my bottom teeth. The dentist stated that if I feel any pain he would have to correct the bite next time I'm in.

I haven't been feeling any pain on the bottom tooth, but the tooth above it suddenly started hurting quite a bit earlier today (I had the filling done on Monday).

Could this be the cause, or is something else wrong? It's not excruciating pain - it's kind of dulled, something like how a filling feels while you're still numb.

It might be that filling the lower tooth changed your bite pattern, such that it pushes awkwardly against the top tooth thereby causing pain. Talk to your dentist; he can alter the filling to fix the problem.

I don't think that the bottom tooth necessarily causes pain to the tooth above it, but maybe you just bite too hard. I have had many fillings done for myself, and yes i have spent many years in dental offices. The problem i had was that i bite too hard because when i first had my tooth filled, it felt really weird and i kept on biting and then it started to hurt. Maybe you have a cavity.

Yes it's possible the new filling needs to be adjusted slightly. You might be biting or closing a little different with the new fill which can make other teeth besides the one restored hurt. I would suggest that you give him a call, its a simple fix!
