I got a root canal on Tuesday and I still can't chew on that side (too tender)?!

Question:

I got a root canal on Tuesday and I still can't chew on that side (too tender)?

How long do I let this go on before I alert the dentist? Or is this normal?

Thanks so much!

Answers:

From my past experience when having dental problems, even just a few months ago, I think that it is normal that you can't chew well or hurts on that side. When you have dental surgery like this it doesn't just mean the tooth itself but goes more beyond that and nearly always, as is your case that there are the nerves of the tooth or the gum that are affected.
And they don't come to normal quick.
As I told you some months ago I had dental surgery and the dentist himself told me that I will have to wait between two weeks and a month for my gums to rerturn to normal. Infact I took that time without being able to crash food on that side, or I had a sudden pain when I have something hard. Telling you the truth I will go to see the dentist again to see what is the trouble. Keep it in mind that pain in your head, whether it be dental, ears, yes and the head itself are felt more than in any other part of our body.
Leave for some other time , it is too early. You only had the root canal just three days ago, and that's too early. If it hurts you can take some pain killers to help.
Good luck.
