My wisdom teeth were taken out in an oral surgeon's office. No hospital. Sat in the chair, got hooked up to the heart monitor, they put a pulse ox thingy on my finger, the doctor put an IV in my arm and gave me a shot of a sedative via IV and I was out. Next thing I knew, they were waking me up, helping me into a wheel chair and taking me out to my mom's car so my mom could take me home.

I experienced pain/soreness for about 2 weeks. I did have dry sockets within the bottom holes, so therefore I was sore longer than usual.

well I did not stay in the hospital. I was in pain for a few days but they give you meds to help with the pain. They put me to sleep and cut mine out because mine were under the gums but they could not come in. its not really bad, but their is a small amount of pain.

u dnt stay in a hospital ...it is just a one day surgery....ummm...the pain lasted 4 bout a week....and they just put u in a room put u 2 sleep and take them out!!

No hospital stay. Just an hour with the oral surgeon and a few days of achy jaws.

The worst part was having to be careful eating, followed at some distance by the side effects of the pain meds.

you didn't have to go to the hospital. you went to the dentist office. you'll be in pain for about a week or so depending on how fast you heal, but they also give you pain pills that you will take that helps out a lot. When I got mine out they put you to sleep then took them out and what ever else they do. it took only 45 minutes for me and i got all four out. It wasn't that bad. I was eating a steak dinner the next day! :)

I had one of mine out. Just some time with the oral surgeon, no hospital. The pain meds were great. And they didn't even put me completely under. It was a lot less painful than I thought it would be. The first couple days were kinda sucky. But I was better in a week. Wish I could have just had them all out at once. I still need to get the other 3 out. Just get it done, and then you won't have to worry about it anymore. And I still have far less trouble with the teeth around where the one got taken out. Having trouble with the ones that are still in. don't be afraid.

Yeah its no big deal your in and out the same day and they put you to sleep ya don't fell a thang. Well not until your awake and your pain stuff has worn off I had all 4 of mine done at the same time mine were not showing so the had to cut them out.

i was in the oral surgeon's office for about i think 4 hours counting waiting and being unconscious. I was in pain for a while and the meds you take make you constipated(I didn't have a bm for a whole week).

My experience was as an outpatient. I believe that I went in early in the morning and was out by noon. Difficult to remember exactly because of the Sodium Pentathol, very drugged.

Make sure that you have someone to take care of you afterwards. I remember being in the surgical room and then waking up in a post-op room. I was very confused and disoriented. I was in pain for a few days, it hurt to speak, but it wasn't very significant. I wouldn't plan attending any major events within the few days afterwards, though.

Everyone has a different experience. It all depends on your oral surgeon's technique, how impacted your wisdom teeth are, and your reaction. In my opinion general anesthesia typically has a better outcome. I had two friends have the surgery on the same day, one with general, one with local, and the one with local had a huge amount of swelling and discomfort. My other friend had minimal.

Good luck! Good idea to have it done.

I had mine done at an oral surgeons small office location. I sat in a nice leather chair. They put an IV on my arm and the doc said, this is really going to relax you. IT WAS AMAZING. Then I woke up a little bit later and hopped out of the chair and went home. I had NO pain at all. I really enjoyed it, especially being sedated. It was great. Be smart about what you eat afterwards because it feels funny, but no pain. I recommend Indian curry based food if you are a big eater. Personally, I looked at it as an excuse to eat ice cream for dinner and that is what I did. I also had soup and apple sauce. But Ice Cream will feel really good on the area where your teeth used to be and where it is now only your gums. I KID YOU NOT: I ran 4 miles the same day at a 7 minute 30 second pace. Plus you get vicadin which I didn't even need so I saved it for nights I couldn't sleep and a plane ride I took for a Christmas vacation. And the best thing about it is those 4 teeth are SO unnecessary. You will love flossing afterwards. It is much easier without the wisdom teeth and it takes less time.
