I got my wisdom teeth out today, is it safe to use mouthwash?!

Question: NO! Do not rinse your mouth for 24 hours. If you rinse or drink thru a straw or smoke, etc., you could end up with a dry socket. This will hurt worse than any toothache you could ever have. You want the blood to clot good in those sockets. If it doesn't, it leaves the nerve exposed and the pain is unbearable. After 24 hours rinse with warm salt water and eat soft foods for a day or two. I work in a dental office. Be careful.

i would not it will hurt and burn warm salt water would be better

It will hurt a lot. I reccomend using warm salt water.

Absolutely not! No rinsing at all for 24 hours. You do not want to disturb the clot or you can get a dry socket. Today is cold only. You can have ice chips and cold packs 10 minutes on and 20 minutes off. Jello, pudding, juice, etc. Nothing spicy at all.

Tomorrow you can start rinsing and cleaning.

I definitely, definitely would not. I got mine out a little over a year ago and think it would be really painful to do that. You could also disturb the blood clot by swishing anything in your mouth with much force, nor should you really brush where they were removed.

HELL NO

They didn't prescribe you one? When I had mine taken out a couple weeks ago, they prescribed me a special mouthwash. I was to hold it in my mouth for 30 seconds (NOT swish) and basically let it fall out of my mouth.

However, I wouldn't recommend using a regular mouthwash (mine was made to help slow bleeding). Use warm salt water, but do not swish. You risk losing your blood clot and getting dry socket, which I have heard is very painful.
