My top teeth (molars)and bottom teeth dont touch with braces?!

Question: Before I got braces, my top teeth and bottom teeth touched, so i could chew my food. I just got braces TODAY and my top teeth and bottom teeth aren't touching! So there's like a small space between them. And it REALLY makes it hard to eat. Is this normal? And does it go away? The only thing Ive been eating is soup!! please help if you know anything. Also, how long until this (teeth not touching) goes away?
Sorry if this sounds confusing, I hope you know what I'm talking about : )

This is perfectly normal what you are experiencing. You have bands now on the molars and your teeth are already trying to adjust themselves so you can't bite down. In fact, most of the time while your braces are on, you will feel that your bite is shifting and changing. As far as the molars though, they will adjust and you will be able to bite on them within a few days --about when your first discomfort starts wearing off!
