Cavity filling is sensitive to cold. Also hurts when chewing on it.?!

Question:

Cavity filling is sensitive to cold. Also hurts when chewing on it.?

I had a filling about a month ago on my tooth(farthest back, bottom right if you're looking in). It's been sensitive to cold water since I got it. I figured it was normal but now i'm getting toothaches again (hurts as bad as prior to my filling). What do I do? Could this be a sign of near-future RCT?

Answers:

There are risks of you needing a root canal only if your cavity was close to the pulp chamber (nerve). http://www.studiodentaire.com/en/treatme...

But it is normal for your tooth to be sensitive after a dental filling. You can use the toothpaste Sensodyne 3 times a day for a few weeks, and it might help. http://www.studiodentaire.com/en/conditi...

But after a month, if your filling starts to hurt more, it is a bit unusual. It might be the fact that it is too high. You can call your dentist and he can lightly grind it down.
