Extraction/Replacement and Root Canal?!

Question:

Extraction/Replacement and Root Canal?

I'm 14 and yesterday, it was my first time to the dentist in a very long time because I have quite a deathly fear of it :/ My dentist told me I need one of my molars to be extracted and replaced and the other molar needed a root canal. I've been researching it for a bit and I need a lot of information and details about it. Help, please? I'm not so terrified of the dentist as I am for the pain. A couple of my friends say it hurts and some don't so I'm not sure. Please & thank you in advance:)

To Doofus: Yeah, the root canal is covered by the insurance but not the replacement. I'm getting it done in July, and I'm terrified as heck. :(

Can someone explain in detail also how replacement works?

Answers:

Do not be scared, a root canal is like doing a filling, except that it takes more time. http://www.studiodentaire.com/en/treatme...

Yes, the dentist has to numb the tooth, that is why he uses needles, the same way it is used for fillings.

You might experience a bit of pain after the procedure, for a few days, but pain killers like Advil or Tylenol are usually enough to help.
