First visit to orthodontist?!
Question: Hey. I've never been to an orthodontist before due to money/insurance issues but now we have insurance, and I was wondering what to expect. I have quite a good over-bite(When I smile you only see my front row of teeth) and The tooth next to my two front one is completly sideways. Do you think they will pull it(it's an adult tooth) and do you think I will need braces? And also, If I do, how many visits will it consist of? Thanks, because I'm really nervous!!

no the likley wont pull that tooth. they will assess and come up with a plan for you.yes you will probably need braces, and the whole thing will take 2 to 3 years.
they will probably start with spacers( the worst pain of the entire thing)then a device to spread the roof of your mouth. then top braces. after your teeth start to straighten out, THEN they will decide if you need any teeth pulled. they would likey pull a tooth further back though.
take it one step at a time :)
I like to refer to the orthodontists office as Satan's A**hole
dont be nervous, and yes extractions might happen. also a brace is a strong possibility. end results will be stunning!
the odds are your probably going to get your tooth pulled and get braces. the same thing happened to me a few months back. but in the end it will all pay off cause your teeth are gunna look real good
Hi,
My grandson did not go to the orthodontist until he had his adult teeth. He is 15. Because there was severe overcrowding in his mouth the orthodontist recommended he have two upper and two lower teeth removed. He said he could treat the condition without the extractions, but that it would likely return a few years after treatment stopped. My grandson without hesitation choose to have the teeth removed, opting for a permanent solution rather than a temporary one. We choose to go to the regular dentist to have he teeth removed rather than an oral surgeon, because we did not want all four teeth removed the same day.
Don't sweat it. Your first visit will not involve anything. All they will do is look.
