Is all metel used in crowns now mercury free? Or do they still use it in crowns!

Question:

Is all metel used in crowns now mercury free? Or do they still use it in crowns?

Also what is a base metal and what is a noble metal?

Answers:

Alloys used in crowns never had mercury, as far as I know.

The better crowns have alloys made from metals that do not corrode in the mouth ("noble metals"), such as gold or palladium.

The cheaper ones are made of base metal alloys such as cobalt chromium or nickel (which can sometimes cause allergies).

Hope this helps.
