There is a risk of choking related to the numbness

well...because you won't be able to feel what you are chewing on!

If you eat and you can't feel you'll chew up the inside of your mouth. That's why! YIKES!!!

u might bite your self

Because you'll bite through your mouth on accident. You could chew half your mouth open and not know it. So its better that you dont eat anything until it wears off.

because it numbs your mouth and gums, etc. it is a form of paralysis

You will bite through your mouth without meaning to. Ouch!

you will chew up your mouth cause ya won't be able to feel it - duh! lol

1. You can't feel or taste the food you are eating
2. You might bite your lip, tounge, or cheek
3. You might swallow your tounge

Trust me: I have experience in eating and novicaine......well I haven't swallowed my tounge.....yet!!!

im not a dentist. but the reason why is cause the novicane numbs your mouth to where you cant feel anything. so if your eating while the novicane is stil working then you could bite your self (tounge) wont be able to feal it til later. sometimes it can cause some major damage.

Ideally you should wait until the anesthetic has worn off completely, otherwise you'll risk biting your lip/tongue while you chew.

It also gives the amalgam (silver) filling material sufficient setting time.

your dentist will be angry with you

You can't feel a thing! You might accidently chew on your cheek or tongue and then be very sore for the next week. lol That would not be a good thing. :D

P.s. I'm no dentist, just a know it all. lol ( not really) Hope this helps :)

eating food will cause you great discomfort to either the tongue or cheek and possibly the lip, along with a tremendous amount of bleeding!!! If you had a filling done it needs time to fully harden and if you had an extraction done a blood clot needs to form. This will prevent a DRY SOCKET that is the mostpainful dental trauma anyone can expierence TRUST ME I have been a dental asst for 22 yrs.

You dont know what your chewing.

You would most likely end up biting yourself while chewing.
