Need crown for cavity????!

Question:

Need crown for cavity????

I went to the dentist to have a cavity filled and the dentsit filling-in...(not my normal dentist) tells me that another cavity I have needs to have crown. I am confused by this because it doesn't appear to be a big cavity and my dentist said i just needed a filling. Its the first molar and neither that tooth nor the one next to it have any fillings or decay. So why would I need a crown? and should I refuse to do it? stand by just a filling?

Answers:

Ohhhhh noooooo, I would wait and see your regular dentist.
If you have any questions, ask your dentist. Sometimes if a cavity is large or very deep you may need a root canal and a crown, but if this was not discussed with you own dentist, I would wait and speak with him. Never have a procedure that you are questioning. Good luck to you.

also, if you are having pain of any kind, make sure they take an x~ray and show you what the problem is and explain it fully to you.
