A question for someone with a general knowlege about teeth.?!

Question: I recently went to the dentist and got a few fillings. they put about 2 in my upper left teeth and a compository one in my left bottom. well anytime I put any pressure on the composite filling it sends an almost unbearable pain shooting down into my tooth. The other ones are tender too but not like that. is that normal at first. What do I do? I can barely eat.

Sensitivity to hot and cold and mild pain from pressure is typical. However, if it is truly a 'shooting' pain then it could be due to deep decay and an exposed nerve. If that's the case then that particular tooth would have been better suited to have received a root canal and not a filling. I would suggest a call to your dentist - describe in detail what type of pain you are experiencing. At the least you should be able to get an Rx for the pain and recommendations as to what should be done next.

I agree with 1 and would add some pain and sensitivity is normal.Have you cracked the filling? You should not eat hard foods on your front teeth anyway...your Dentist should of explained this. And if he is a good Dentist he should know if the tooth needed a root canal.Need to call or visit him again...or see another one.

i recently had 11 fillings myself and had the same issues mine went away after a few days try oragel i would call dentist and check with them just in case hope you get better
