Does getting a crown on your tooth hurt?!

Question: I am getting one on the tooth I had a root canal in a few years ago, and wondering what they will do.

oh no...hunnie......if u had a root canal years ago...then technically...the tooth is dead...
as far as the crown process....u will be on local anesthsia and they would remove at least 1-2 mm of surrounding tooth structure and then make a temporary crown...u should return around 2 weeks later to have a permanent crown cemented on.
but as far a pain, if u do feel any discomfort it would technically come from the gum area...and not the tooth itself.

but just remember that if u paid for a rootcanal, i definatly advise getting the crown done, if u have invested this much so far (time n money) finish the treatment.

last thing u want is to loose the tooth from any reoccuring decay..and it can happen.

Anything involved with a dentist hurts (even if they say it wont)

I am getting one also on Thursday...I had a few of them and NO they do not hurt ,,they will give you Some sort of Numbing medicine and than drill the tooth to a point for the cap...It will be sore some after ,,,but mainly from working on your tooth as with any repair....GOOD LUCK!!!
getting the numbing shot is the only really ouching .....but that is over in a second...
