Extracting wisdom tooth is it painful during the extraction?!

Question:

Extracting wisdom tooth is it painful during the extraction?

Answers:

As a dentist, I can tell you that you should feel NO pain during the actual extraction. Most patients say that the injection is the worst part of any dental procedure. before the extraction your dentist will give you an injection Lidocaine, this blocks the nerve from feeling any pain during the extraction... there is slight pain with a injection, most people compare it too a bee sting os slight pinch. Your dentist will ensure that the gums are numb before extracting the tooth, during this all you will feel is some pushing and pulling and maybe some pressure as he/she is extracting the tooth. Post extraction pain is usually very minor, your dentist will probably give you a prescription for antibiotics and pain medication. A cold compress also works very well to help reduce pain and help with swelling. Good luck!
