You will probably be wearing your temporary crown for a few weeks so you need to make sure the bite is not too high on it, which is what it sounds like is going on. The reason for this is so that you don't cause nerve damage to the tooth that hits the temp when you are chewing. Temporaries don't ever feel the same as the permanent crown but the bite can easily be adjusted by your dentist in just a few minutes. It is a trial and error thing that can sometimes take a few adjustments to get it right but it needs to be right even with a temporary.

you can chew...but really carefully. Try to do most of the chewing on the other side of your mouth. Just a note also....IF the temporary crown comes off...don't panic ..you can put it back on by yourself or the dentist can in about 2 seconds..(when that happened with my first crown..it was scary!) Also..NO chewy stuff..,gum etc.! The worst is over. They just pop the temp. off and cement on the permanent. Nothing hurts...all done ?
