Am I reducing the effectiveness of my mouthwash?!

Question:

Am I reducing the effectiveness of my mouthwash?

I use Scope mouthwash but I can't stand the mintiness, so I dilute it with water: 1 part water to 2 parts mouthwash.

I've had bad experiences with dentists and I don't want to risk having to get a filling.
(I do brush at least twice a day and floss daily, but I've only started following good brushing habits recently.)

Will I be ok?

Answers:

You should be brushing, flossing and using a Fluoride mouthwash like ACT, or Fluorigard. The fluoride rinses help remineralize the teeth to help prevent decay. If you have reason to be concerned with cavities you can also use a higher concentration fluoride toothpaste like Prevident (ask the pharmacist) The Scope is more for fresh taste.
Good luck!
