Extreme pain in my tooth...HELP!!!?!

Question: I had a tooth pulled on Thursday (a molar on the upper left) and I am having almost no pain from that. However, a molar on the same side but on the bottom began hurting like CRAZY last night and it's to the point where I can't chew. The dentist can't see me until Friday and I have the Vicodin that they gave me for pulling my tooth but the pain is still unbearable. I haven't eaten anything since last night due to the pain and I'm going nuts. I don't think it's an abscess because I had a root canal on this tooth four years ago and I've never had problems. I brush twice a day AND floss and I don't know what's going on but it hurts so bad that I want to cry! Plus...I'm hungry, and I would love for this pain to go away long enough so I can eat something. What do you think could be causing this? Could it be a result of having my tooth pulled? What should I do? Thanks in advance for all your help!!!

You know the answer. If vicodin is not helping, you would be considered an emergency patient. Call , explain how much pain you are having, and get treated. May be a totally unrelated problem. If your regular Dentist refuses to see you, call another. --and report him to the Dental Society in your area. Cannot speak for Dentists, but most Physicians have a few open slots a week for work-in patients.

Sounds like you may have a dry socket (Very painful). Call the dentist, if he can't see you sooner find one that will. Be sure to tell the office you are in lots of pain and can't wait.
Good luck, and hang in there.

I am shocked that your dentist won't see you until Friday with you in this much pain. I agree with the other answer to call another dentist and report yours. Dentists also keep some amount of time open each day for emergencies....even if they don't have time....if it is major pain....they will make time. Whether another dentist....the ER....or planting yourself in your dentist office first thing in the morning ....you can't wait until Friday.....and don't hold back the tears if you go to your dentist. Bless you. :)
