Basically it starts off like this...
1. They numb the outer part of your gum so that when they use the needle you literally CANNOT feel it. once they inject the numb stuff inside the needle u cant even talk half right cuz ur mouth is so knocked out.
2. they then dig out around the cavity to get all the "dirt" out and anywhere near the cavity hole, you can slightly feel this, kind of feels like a cold-tingle (did for me) but its nothing that made me ache in pain or squirm any.
3. they fill the hole with whatever they use, did not hurt.
4. ur done after it dries by using that ray gun thing they use for brace glue, u walk out, cant talk well for like 2 more hours, no pain except just a slight soreness for the rest of the day.
best of wishes/luck, ttyl

Yes, it hurts.

But it doesn't last forever.

Some people have an irrational fear of Dentists. You have had needle sticks before. This time you will hardly feel anything, because he will numb the gums with a topical anesthetic. It is only a needle stick. He is not going to harm you. I would tell him how afraid you are, and ask for something to calm you. He may give you a little Nitrous oxide, or perhaps a pill to take before. The last thing a Dentist wants is a patient that is "jumpy".

No it doesn't hurt, what hurts is not going and having an ugly mouth

The injection does sting and make your eyes water, unless they are nice enough to rub some numbing stuff on the gums first, but its all over in 10 seconds. The actuall drilling and filling doesnt hurt, and after the numbness wears off you do have a bit of pain at the injection site. But its not as bad as having a tooth pulled and the pain after that ! So learn a lesson and look after your teeth now so you dont have to see the dentist anymore
