i think toothbrush should be changed into teethbrush because
we are not just brushing a tooth, but the whole TEETH. talk about plurality in the grammar....

You have to understand that the toothbrush has evolved over the years...At one point a toothbrush was a mere twig that was split on the ends and people would use it to clean their teeth...one tooth at a time...This is where the term "Tooth Brush" came from...and over the years of change the toothbrush head got bigger and bigger...Therefore able to cover the surface of more than one tooth at a time...Same name new look...
