Novocain question?!

Question: Is it possible to feel sedative effects when you are numbed with Novacaine for dental procedures? It seems to me that whenever I get my gums/teeth numbed I feel sedated a little bit.

No. The local anesthetic stays in the tissues near where it was injected. That's why your whole body doens't go numb, just a small area around the injection site.

By the way, novocaine hasn't been used since the 1960's. The side effects were more than the benefit. Now dentists use mainly Lidocaine and Septocaine.

Couldn't say it better then Heather N....she's on it......
By the way....it's good to see a question from you....teeth feeling better now....
