Getting braces please anwser!!!!!!?!
Question: im 15and a guy getting braces tommrow and im a little nervous do they hurt? How do they put them on?and Do i have to be put on a diet. i dont want them i dont want to look like a freak

relax, dude you'll be fine. they don't hurt when they are put on but your mouth will take some time to adjust so your gums and cheeks might feel sore for a few days. your orthodontist will give you wax to put on where you might feel irritation.
you wont be able to eat some things like popcorn (which i miss the most!) and chewy stuff like caramel and taffy. you should cut up harder foods like apples & pears and bagels. my orthodontist also says no ice crunching but i do it anyway, with crushed ice.
when you go for your monthly appts if your mouth is sore, you might just eat soft foods like applesauce, pudding etc until you can chew more solid stuff usually later in the day or next day, and tylenol will help relieve any pain (usually nothing severe!)
oh, and you should def keep up with the rinsing, brushing and flossing - it's a pain but there are lots of tools that help, like small brushes that you use between the wire and your teeth and plastic loops that you use to thread floss. your orthodontist should give you some of these too.
and trust me you won't look like a freak! i have had mine for 3 years and most of my friends wear them or had them.
you might not enjoy wearing them every day, but think about how straight your teeth will be when you finally get them off!
Braces will make you a little sore for a couple days, but you'll get used to them. They basically cement them on to your teeth, but it won't hurt. Almost everyone has or had braces at some point, so you won't look like a freak!

Dude, I had braces for around 5 years, so no big deal. They cement them to your mouth, doesn't taste bad and dry the cement with a drying gun (doesn't hurt). Basically be careful when you eat chewy foods (they will say stop alltoghther) they don't hurt, but will feel wierd at first. Believe me, its no big deal,if there is one thing I know its braces, which is kinda sad.
Basically they take a few pictures do some x-rays then do a impression ( where you bite down on this silly putty stuff ) and then they finally but the braces on. It doesn't hurt for them to put them on, it's after where you may be a little sore for a few days, eat pudding, ice cream, soup, jello, and soft food for a couple of days. Your mouth may be sore for 3-5 days.

Permanent ones- they just put some stuff on your teeth to stick the brackets on then put a wire through! No pain!
Voila!
It doen't hurt at first, but after a few hours it'll be a little uncomfortable- lots of "throbbing (pain killers help), and you'll have to eat soft foods for a while.
After a day or two you'll be back to normal until your next visit!
I promise you won't look like a freak!

Oooh, my son is at the end of three long years with these babies. They DO hurt initially because they are tight and you will probably have a headache tomorrow. Take two Advil or Tylenols before your appointment. There is a special adhesive they put on each tooth, and attach a bracket to each tooth. Then they will thread wire through the brackets and tighten the wire. You are officially done with any kind of sweet, sticky food for awhile I'm afraid. If you are not a good brusher, you will be in deep doo-doo if you continue to drink sugary drinks. No hard candies either. Invest in a Waterpik. Sorry dude...good luck!
Well, if it helps, you won't look like any more of a freak than the rest of the 15-year-olds getting braces. ;) I had braces when I was your age, and it hurts when they're first put on and every time the wire is tightened because your teeth are being slowly moved around. Your mouth will be sore for a few days to a week so you might want to avoid really hard foods, but you don't need to go on a special diet or anything. Getting braces is worth it in the long run.
braces take a litte getting used to, youll be fine in a week. you can still eat what you want no matter what they say, but the most important thing is that when they give you rubber bands to wear ... WEAR THEM! if not, you could have to wear braces for a lot longer than you hoped.
unfortunately, they do hurt.
on the upside, they don't hurt all the time. everytime you tightened it takes about a week of pain at most until you get used to them. they put the brackets on with a special kind of glue. you dont have to be put on a diet, but they give you a list of certain things you shouldnt eat... trust me, its not as bad as it sounds

my sis has braces and nothing happened you dont have to be on a diet..not to scare you or anything but they hurt after 1 or 2 days because your teeth are tightening

i have braces and the but them on with a laser and a blue light it hurts like the first 4 days its feels like u can move ur teeth put u can put after that u even forget u have them put when u go back to change the color it will hurt again but it will stop again and the only think they would say is not to chew gum
Well i had them for about 2 years the first day i was SO nervous for nothing...well for my orthodontist the person put this hug thing in my mouth to keep it open which is only the hurt full part but its nothing and people say omg it hurts SO much once the tighten it the first time well that's not really what happens after a month or 2 they tighten it a lot and like after an hour or 2 they get to hurt and just take Advil or tynaol and all u can eat is soup because u cant chew and the best thing to do is just go to sleep for about 2 to 3 hours and ur teeth will feel fine! Hey beauty is pain soo the pain is wroth it because u will have nice white teeth before u know it!
They take you in a room and glue on the brakets with this special glue, they thread the wire through the brackets and it takes about two hours. Then they put the colored bands around the brackets.
They will be sore for a couple of days but you will get used to them. I have them. All people say they hurt so bad but they really don't. you will get used to them.
Your smile will look so great. You wont' look like a freak because a bunch of people have them.
