last time I got a infection and was told it was because the dam was not used

I have no idea how you would get an infection b/c a dental dam wasn't used. Somebody BS'd u. Been an assistant for 3 years, dental school 4 years, hygienist 2 years. Dental dams are mainly used to help keep an area really dry.
Okay just so everyone know what a dental dam is:
A DENTAL DAM is a piece of square rubber they take a big clamp and clamp this metal bracket around a tooth and then stretch this big rubber square out over your mouth so the only tooth above the dam is the one they will work on. This prevents saliva/tongue from wetting the area they are working on or getting in the way.
