I'm getting braces next week. Any advice on how to have them hurting less?!

Okay, I got asked this question a lot when I got mine. At first your teeth will ache and be sore, then they will be pretty sore. Kind of the tolerability of chicken pocks. You may want to rip them out from the pain, but it will pass. It is tolerable with use of an ibuprofen or other pain killers, i.e. tylenol, etc. However as the days pass, your teeth will not hurt unless pressure is applied to them. Keep on the Jello and stick with it. Trust me I had my braces for more than 5 years and it was all worth it. Just look forward to that day when your teeth are all spiffy! Good luck-
know matter what they will hurt. i would take some advil before you go in the office. eat soft foods the first week and keep taking advil. good luck. :)
The best way is to not get them.
advil. advil. advil. your teeth will become over-sensitive so make sure to eat soft foods and such. also, the doctor might give you this wax thing to peet in your gums or teeth if your braces are hurting you (the metal).
Use the wax if they are cutting up your mouth. If its your gums that hurt take a tylenol.
you can't really excpae the pain when you put them on or get them tightened. at first, they don't hurt, but after awhile they kill. take a motrin or advil to help ease the pain.
Your orthodontist will tell you to take Advil...maybe 3 instead of 2..ask him about that...Take a couple before you go...braces put mega pressure on your teeth, that's how your teeth will turn out beautiful and straight!! The pressure hurts..not like pain..but like ache....somehow ache is not as bad as PAIN... ? You'll be fine. Tell your mom and dad 'thank you '...for loving you enough to get your teeth straightened.!!

Well my tops didnt hurt just i could feel they were moving and boy did they move! My gap is smaller and I got them over a month ago! My bottoms on the other hand was like 4-6 in pain and it lasted a couple of days (3-4) but it really varies on everybody! Dont worry! Soon you will be able to give people straight up answers and advice to their braces questions! But I heard they hurt getting them tightend but I havent gone through that yet but some say its just umcomfortable not like PAIN!!!!

Oh definatly advil. Right before you leave your house take some. so when you get them on you dont feel it bc the advil is working. then keep taking them for a few days.
