Will the dentist put me to sleep to do a root canal or a filling?!

Question: I am terrified of dentists and have panic attacks when I think about it.

Answers: I am terrified of dentists and have panic attacks when I think about it.

I have had several root canals and lots of fillings. The dentist gives you a hot of Novocain...it makes the entire are completely numb...you can't feel anything. the needle they use is so thin that it is not like a shot in your arm. Please don't be afraid of going to the dentist. It's really not a scary thing. think of it like this...you get to lay back in a comfortable ...get lots of attention (which we all like!)chair.. and 45 minutes later your mouth is free and clear of any infection! A root canal (just the words alone are enough to make you want to hide under your bed...trust me the words are way worse than the procedure..) anyway, a root canal, takes place when the decay and bacteria from the tooth has gotten into the actual root of the tooth. This causes infection and can hurt like holy heck...until you go to the dentist! Once you go, the dentist cleans the area around the root of the tooth..(you DON'T FEEL A THING) and leaves a tiny "canal" for any left over infection to drain. None of this leaves any indication on your face or in your mouth that anything has been done.Usually he will have you come back in a couple of days just to look things over and make sure it's all good.
That's it...whalaaa....totally done!
Please don't put off going to the dentist. If you do have some infected areas in your mouth, that infection can get into your bloodstream and make it's way quickly to your brain...and then it's "see you in heaven.."
You need too make an appointment or ask your mom
to make one for you,TODAY!!! The dentist is no big deal at all...but the infection, if there is one, .....is a HUGE DEAL!!
Don't worry..just call him! ? ? ?

i dont think so but if you want them too they will

they should or he or she might just numb you so they can do it i am not a fan of doctors or dentists but if its your body and health that needs to be taken care of then you have to get this root canal done before your teeth get really bad

Generally not for a filling. You can request not to be put to sleep for a root canal but most dentists prefer it because it is easier for both of you. Some insurance companies will not cover gas if it is not deemed necessary.

My dentist just numbed the area, and the feeling was gone. Putting you to sleep makes it harder to recover from the whole thing, so it is not the best thing to do. Don't wait, as infection could happen if you don't take care of it.
