Black spot after filling??!

Question:

Black spot after filling??

I had some fillings done yesterday. Before I went to the dentist I saw black spots between my back molars on the upper left side - when he told me I have some cavities there I wasn't at all surprised. At home, after the fillings were done I noticed the black spots were still there.

I go back for a cleaning next week and will definitely be asking him then but I wanted to know what other people thought. I had a full series of bitewing x-rays and he did work on those same teeth so it doesn't seem possible to me that he would have missed a cavity like that?? If I can see it he definitely saw it - being a trained professional and all.

Is it possible to have BLACK stains between teeth? Anyone with similar experiences or advice?

Thanks!

I'm anxious to find out what it is. The pessimist in me is sure that it is more decay that the dentist missed - but in reality I don't see that as possible. If it's just a stain I don't really care - as it's not visible anyway. I'll be sure to update when I ask the dentist about it!! Thanks!

Thought I'd give another update.

I pointed it out to my dentist at my cleaning and she saw what I was talking about it. She said it was arrested decay - meaning that it started but for whatever reason is not progressing. They'll just keep checking it at my cleanings but it doesn't need to be treated now - other than regular flossing/brushing and fluoride mouthwash. THanks!!

I have the same problem.
The sad thing is that though the cavity is found on the same black spot tooth but the decay portion isn't on the black spot part. I asked the dentist to get rid of the black spot but she said tt the potion of the tooth isn't decayed hence it's not wise to drill away tt portion. If she were to drill away the black spot portion, it would change the structure of the tooth hence the tooth might be weaker den expected.
