Close my hereditarial and obivious gap between teeth?!

Question: ok, i have a gap and it's very hereditary. it's the type of gap that has that little piece of gum that sticks down in the middle between the two teeth. this is a pic of how it looks:

these are not my teeth, but this is what my gap looks like. i was wondering for the people who have had braces, how long would it take to close a gap and would i have to get the piece of gum removed by surgery? i would like to try invisalign, but that's too expensive, so im going for regular braces. can anyone help me out on this. Serious answers only. Thanks.

You can have it closed using braces but its a personal decision. It will change the way you look. If it makes you feel better, go ahead and have them closed.

Diasmas are beautiful, I have one myself, and are distinctive and attractive. I heard that saying too that it is a sign of wealth.

My little sister had to have braces due to a problem with her teeth but made it clear not to close her diasma, because then she would not look like the rest of the familty. I thought that was cute.

But you do what makes you happy

Braces are usually on for 1-2 years, I think. That's how long I had them on for. It takes a while, but it is worth it if you really want to make the change. As for removing the piece of gum, I seriously doubt that would be necessary, but I'm not a dentist. I recommend making a consultation appointment with an orthodontist to see what options there are. You might also check out the American Dental Association's Web page -- they might have some advice.

many people have it ,as a true mark of your identity

i had braces for about 2 years to close my gap, and help align my teeth. I also tried invisible braces for a year, but they really didn't help close the gap, so i went back to traditional braces. Although they are unsightly, its better than having a gap, and you can get clear braces instead of the metal ones. Good luck!

I bet it looks sexy on you. Of course you know I'm biased towards sexy black women.

A gap between your 2 front teeth is a sign of wealth!!
