Best crown to get?
Lets start with I am a SAHM with 2 kids and can't afford a lot. My insurance covers an all metal crown for $85. It is for a molar. The next option up is $385.00 my dentist tried to get me to buy one that is $1150.00 I told them I just want the one my insurance covers. They went through a big ordeal on how it will ruin my gums, it won't even last a year and then I will have to pay for it out of pocket as my insurance will only replace them once every 5 years. So anyways they told me to go to the ADA's website and read up on it before I make my final decision. I went I read and it didn't say anything about those side effects. If anything it praised that crown better than the rest the only downside is in rare cases you may be allergic to the metal. Has anyone else had the problems my dentist suggested or do you, as i do, believe they are just trying to get me to pay more than I need. I just fully believe they are out to get all they can from me.

Their profit margin is larger for the more expensive crowns. Even if it only lasts a year (which I know is not true) then you would only have to pay $85 for another one.....
