How do we get rid of stinky saliva?!
Question:
How do we get rid of stinky saliva?
Answers:
Well, you have to determine what is most likely to be making the bad smell. Is it really the saliva, or some other thing causing bad breath?
Nasal infection can cause bad breath. Treat the nasal problem.
Dry mouth - sjogren's syndrome and other diseases can cause mucous membranes to dry out - there is a reduction in saliva and that cause bad mouth odor. There are artifical salliva products and medications.
Sleeping with the mouth open can cause terrible breath because the saliva is not wet enough to rinse out the mouth. Use a nose strip to hold the nose open when sleeping.
Tongue bacteria - remember to always brush your tongue or use a tongue scraper.
Dental bacteria or tooth decay - remember to floss between the teeth and get your teeth professionally cleaned twice per year by the dentist.
Stomach odors from diet - smelly, pungent foods like garlic, onion, curry, cheeses can cause bad smells that float up from the stomach and come out of the mouth. Low carb diets also produce ketone gases that smell bad.
