It's not necessary to take dental bands off for meals. It is usually more comfortable to do so, but I know that I only change them twice a day. I leave them on during most meals. It's all a matter of choice and preference.

A slight pain in the mouth caused by dental bands means that they're working. Mine are always a tad painful after tightening. You should become more and more comfortable with the bands as time progresses. Try to take some aspirin for the pain in the meantime.

you mean the rubberbands? yes take them out to eat and they hurt b/c they are working

pain killers is the only answer. its worse to not wear them because you will just be stuck in them longer. try wearing them just at night or even double them up at night to get it over with quicker.

Ice cream? I never did. It melts in your mouth-and won't get tangled in them-why bother?

My elastics came out at odd times though-like when I yawned in Mr Byerly's Geometry class-and shot him with one. No one knew but me...but it was hysterical-he waved it away like it was a fly. Sometimes it's nice to have your own joke-so I didn't claim the moment..Mr Byerly, as I recall was rather dull-it woke him up.

Thanks for reminding me of that!

Take an Excedrin or Tylenol--you'll feel better-it only feels bad about a week-then it eases--until they crank you up the next time...then do the pain reliever or your choice again.
