Question: I JUST got my braces a matter of hours ago, and they don't ache. Can I go strait to eating solid foods? (like pretzels?)

I got my braces at 11 am, and I was perfectly fine and had some soup. I thought It was going to be easy- then it became 10pm at night and the pain came. I recommend you don't cause the pain prematurely by eating hard foods. Try to take it easy at least for the first few days!

it might hurt.. it will deffo hurt biting into things, like apples. i just stuck to soup the first day i got mine!:)

You shouldn't eat hard foods on the first day. Not only could it break something it may also start the pain. I would wait a day or two.

Well, if you do, they will really hurt the next day. Usually when people get braces, they don't hurt at all the first day, but they hurt like crazy the next day. I wouldn't eat hard foods, because you could brake a bracket. Good luck!!!

If i were you i would wait maybe 2 days. they might not hurt right now but just see how you feel after a nights sleep. while your sleeping you dont move your mouth so your muscles and gums might be sore the next morning. Good luck, hope you get the results you want !!

Id say yes to the pretzels, but you should still shy away from foods like romain lettuce hearts, and other solid foods that dont get softer if you suck on them. But the reason why not to eat most solid foods, is because you dont want to MAKE them hurt.
You might not feel the pain now, but you might later so the choice is yours.

i just got braces 2 days ago. they will start to hurt at night, or the day after. i would probably eat solid foods, while you are able to. but you better hurry.

good luck with that ,,, they will start hurting soon stick to soft foods
