Spacers?!?!

Question:

Spacers?!?

What are they? Where do they go? How do they look like? Does everyone need them? Do they hurt more or less than braces?

Answers:

Spacers can either be rubber band-like or metal. Rubber band ones are usually used [unless you have fillings that are on the outside of the back teeth, then metal ones are used]. They stay between the teeth for about two weeks and move the back teeth slightly apart. They are sometimes painful, so if you experience pain you may want to take a tylenol.

Not everybody needs them. If you're not getting bands, you will not need them. [I haven't had them.]

They usually stay on for about 10 days.

A lot of people say that spacers were the worst part of their whole braces experience. And a lot of people say they hurt more.

Best of luck.
