Discolored tooth....?!

Question: I have always had bad teeth, but I have also taken care of them. Recently my tooth became discolored, which i assume it is now dead. I have health insurance, and want to get this fixed. I am afraid that they will not cover all the cost to do this and i am scared to go in. Since having 2 children I have put them as a top concern and left my dental health go for a while. I need any suggestions anyone can give....my appearance matters to me, and though it is not yet "too" visible to people it is still a concern...
~~Thanks~~

The discoloration comes from the dead nerve. The tooth will become even more discolored. The only way to correct it is to go to a dentist. Root canals & caps are quite expensive, but it may be the only route to go. I would check with a dentist before I made ANY decision . A dentist can tell you your options & their costs.

Number 1 thing to do is check your insurance policy to see if you have dental coverage. If you are on a group policy, check with the person who takes care of the claims. If you don't have insurance coverage, call dentist office and ask about the cost and if you don't have the money, ask if you can make payments on the bill. Good luck!
