I had one done not so long ago. The temp filling is there just as a stop gap to ensure that where the dentist poked and prodded has settled down (i.e. swelling) and this is why the two week gap (along with the tooth being made to 'fit' over the top.

I was told that the gum/tooth is sealed and the temp filling is just there so you can try to chew etc. I was specifically told not to worry if it came off.

If you can put up with it just leave, you could telephone your dentist and ask, or you could tidy it up - I'm sure it won't matter.

Just try to remove the temp fill that is hanging out the tooth .
The temp fill should only cover the tooth and the missing surfaces of the tooth , it shouldn't be over the gum or over the tooth next to it.
