What was your GPA upon becoming accepted to dental school?!

Question: now a days the average GPA is around 3.5-3.7, and the average DAT score is on the low end 15-17. depending on the school you are applying to the requirments will differ. some schools require a score of around 19-20 on the DAT and a minimum gpa of 3.7 and a science GPA of around 3.5. But do not despair. even if you dont have the required gpas and DAT scores there is still hope. It really comes down to the schools you are looking at. look at those college books and investigate what are the average gpas and DAT scores that they accepted. If your gpa is lacking I hope that i can give you hope. I fooled around in college and had horrible grades. I had a gpa under 3, and a science gpa of 2.7 I thought i had no hope. but i had buckled down for my senior year and had a 4.0 and i scored in the 99.9th percentile on the DATS. so when i applied i looked at schools that looked highly on DAT scores and the last 60 credit hours. anything is possible all you need is that opportunity. i hope this helps good luck.

i'm a nurse not a dentist. sorry.

It'll vary, and I'm sure it's different now than it was when I went to school. Back then, we were told our chances of acceptance were reasonable with a GPA over 3.25 on a 4-point scale, but there are many other factors to consider, including your DAT score (like the MCAT for dentists), your letters of recommendation, the types of classes you took in order to earn that GPA, and your extracurricular activities. Do your best to boost all of those things, because any school to which you are applying will only know you by what they see on paper, and if you haven't built yourself a great application, you won't earn the all-important interview. Good luck!
