The root of one of the root canals could be infected (I had this once a year after a root canal). These however don't usually cause any sign of tooth pain apart from the swelling in the check or jaw.
Could be just the gum receded with age around one of the teeth and the more sensitive areas without enamel are exposed.
well your problem is extreme sensitivity... may be your previous treatment was not successful... ur root canals may stil be open... or u have problem in other teeth such as carious cavities .... taking ibuprofen can no longer help... unless the cause is removed u wont have relief for the pain... consult your doctor again....
