I agree with Dr Frank above.
A broad spectrum like amoxycillin or clindamycin is usually the first choice for dental abscesses or infected gum around wisdom teeth (pericorinitis). Sometimes metronidazole is combined with either of these two because it is a narrow spectrum antibiotic for anaerobic bacteria (i.e. bacteria that survive without air) and will kill some bacteria that amoxy or clinda are not effective against.
Not used so much for abscesses but much more commonly for pericoronitis. It is not 1st choice for abscesses.

Metranidazole is used to treat fungal infections.

Yes it is. It's for anaerobic bacteria and protozoa and used fairly often by dentists after they've drained an abscess.

Don't listen to the answer above Metronidazole is an antibiotic.

yes it is I had it years ago, turned out that I am alllergic to it!

I think it is an anti b but not sure if used in dental work - have u tried wikipedia?

I've had this anti-biotic for dental abcesses.

yes specially if the abscess is due to RCT treatment

Yes it is commonly used for this. It can have some nasty side effects though so I would check the box!

The normal antibiotics for dental is Amoxicillan, the ones you mentioned if they are the big yellow ones are usually for urine infections

yes it is and its very strong

NEVER drink alcohol on this medication as it causes severe allergic reactions
and creates a hangover type effect only 100 times worse than your worst ever hangover

Metronidazole is often chosen by dentists as it covers most anaerobic organisms. It is sometimes combined with amoxicillin to cover the aerobes.

yeah i had it for an infected wisdom tooth. its horrible to take tho x

Yes I have had it a few times, its used often as an alternative to penicillin.
