i have TMJ and a sign is if you try to open your mouth it might feel like its going to snap shut or you will get a loud popping when you open close or eat and your teeth would also hurt as well as your jaw joint.
maybe its a ear infection and that is where the shooting pain try some asprin see if it helps, could also be a infected tooth, when they get infected it pushes the tooth out a bit which would make you feel the difference in your bite..

wisdom teeth?

It's probably a problem with your teeth. Go see a dentist.

You may have TMJ or an infection.
Call your dentist and let them figure it out before it turns into something worse.

You should see a doctor!

ew i've had that happen to me before. i think it has to do with a nerve, and it's probably from they way you slept last night. give it a day or two to go away... i know the feeling your talking about though, it happened to me literally a few months ago and i was like freaked out by it.

You might be getting sick when ur ear hearts u might be a little conjested. Maybe you hit your jaw or did something to it while you were sleeping. Go to your doctor, and see what they say.

you may have a problem in one of your teeth's roots, or you may have an inner ear infection.

you probably are getting wisdom teeth im getting them and that describes my pains.i dont think u have tmj

you either have a bad tooth or a sinus infection or maybe both.
I just went through the same thing. Hurts like hell.
You need to go to the dentist and get some antibiotics.

omg, my jaw hurts too, but it is b/c i chew gum ten hours a day. When i fully open my jaw, it pops, but it doesn't fall off of anything. it relives the pain in my jaw.

Mine was doing the same thing and I went to the Dr and he said take some motrin and it should go away. I do live in Alaska and he said it might be because of the cold weather. but hell yeah it hurts hard to eat, talk AND SMILE!!! Hope you feel better

Very well could be . I have had the problem for years, It used to be in one side, and the the other, now both, and it is miserable. I have a lot of popping in the joints, and neck muscles that get really sore from tension. You just learn to live with it.

you got yourself a cavity and probably an infection.

the Queen, huh, well it could be a TMJ, workin on you, or root pain, if ti's a pain on chewing motion then, yea, maybe you talk too much

Sounds like you broke a tooth or root.
Go see your dentist.
