Depending on the severity of the problem, dentists will sometimes perform dental work, but normally not after the second trimester. You may need antibiotics if your tooth is infected and the only pain meds you can take is tylenol, possibly tylenol 3. You should talk to your OB about what meds as far as antibiotics and pain meds you might be able to take and take a list to your dental checkup/cleaning in case they need to prescribe something. Work is usually done in the 2nd trimester but only if necessary. A cleaning is a good idea to prevent gum disease which can cause premature low birth weight babies.

i don't know - but i would get it fixed, it seems it would be more stressful on your body and the baby to be in constant pain.

i've heard that it's not save to have dental work done while you're pregnant. you can get an infection that would affect the baby.

As long as your are out of your 1st trimester - which you are, somethings can be done. It also depends what has to be done to the tooth. They can give your something for the pain, but not alot.
You really should call your dentist (or your OB) and ask them for advise, especially if you have an abcessed, you will need antibotics for that.

Good luck!
