Can a chipped tooth cause pain?!

Question: I had my wisdom teeth extracted (bottom) 2.5 weeks ago. I found a little piece of tooth in my mouth about an hour after the surgery and I thought at the time that it was from the extraction. The next day it looked like my bottom right tooth was chipped a little. Well to make a long story short, I'm having a lot of pain especially when my top teeth touch my bottom teeth. It hurts on the tooth that I think is chipped. Can a chipped tooth cause pain and what do I do to get this fixed. Again, I think it was chipped but I'm not sure. It looks a little different and it is not an obvious chip. Thanks.

Yes. If the chipped tooth has a crack that goes down to nerve. Call your dentist and have him look at the x-rays he already took and ask him if he can see on it. If not, then he might have damaged it when he pulled out your wisdom tooth. You'd have a better case of him fixing it for free if you reported it sooner. There is argument that you could've damaged it since then. Anyway talk to him/her and see whats up.

If you kept the chipped piece, a dentist can cement it back in place.

Meantime for the pain you can use clove oil to help with the pain. Dentists used to use clove oil for numbing.

YA!!!!!!!!!

yes!! good luck!

Yes because it is more sensitive to cavities.
Have it fixed right away.

Yes, you might have exposed the root - very painful. I suggest you get back to the dentist and have them cover it.

Maybe the dentist chipped your tooth when extracting your wisdom tooth. Plus when you get your wt cut out they can hurt for awhile. All 4 of mine were cut out at the same time and I still felt pain in them a year later.

I chipped my tooth one time really bad. It was like half the tooth. You dont want to know the story. But it hurt badly and i went to the dentist and got it repaired. If its really little and doesnt hurt then forget about it. But if theres pain go to the dentist and helps you. Hope the pain goes away!:D

Yes they do cause pain what you should do is go to the dentist and have him fix it for you they will just build it up to cover the nerve not painful either! Had mine done I chipped 3 teeth had a rick thrown at my face and it did a number on my teeth a few years ago.

YES!!!!!! Go back to the Dentist and have him Fix it. He/she probably used that tooth for Leverage when they pulled the wisdom tooth. The Dentist should Repair the Damage for free---He/she caused it. And Yes, it happens all the Time.

ya the nerves can be exposed.
