I think my orthodonist caused my TMJ. I can only get my mouth 2/3 of the way ope!
Question: I am in my 6 month of braces, and my jaw has locked with the last tightening. I can talk and eat some foods, but will I ever have full use of my jaw? My orthodonist told me that I had this problem before braces, but my jaw never locked before. I am getting braces for cosmetic reasons, not to fix TMJ. Should I get the braces taken off?

well actuallty TMJ problem has nothing to do with the application of braces directly but yes if your occlusion is disturbed by the braces application then that may be the reason for TMJ problem.
so the better choice will be to take a second opinion so that the cause of the trouble can be properly known and rectified.
