Root canal pain and funny feeling in my cheek?!

Question: I had a root canal done on tuesday morning, the 12th. The novacaine wore off and I felt ok, no pain. I started feeling pain the day after however, and my cheek feels funny, not numb but just weird. The tooth itself is a bit sore, but the real pain comes from the area where my gum meets my cheek.

I told the dental office that the pain didn't start till wednesday and asked for some pain meds but they didn't say to come in. Should I be worried about infection or abscess? Wouldn't that have shown up on the xray or when the dentist did the root canal?

I had 4 root canals done 3 weeks ago, and had pain also in my upper gums, cheek, and side of my nose. Yoy may have an infection. If they gave you antibotics (which they should have), stay on them, and follow up with dentist asap. Call them back and tell them to give you some pain meds.

It sounds like you're experiencing "parasthesia" which is an altered sensation that happens occassionally after numbing. It will eventually go away, but it usually takes a little time
