Braces off!!!!?!
Question: im getting my braces off soon yay!!! im not telling any of my friends cos i want them to be surprised so just want to talk about it to people! =)
can you guys share your braces removal experiences, just so I know what im in for??

i got my braces off about 10 years ago, but I will never forget it. It was so exciting! I remember feeling the pressure of them pulling and prying them off, but no pain at all. Afterwards it feels weird and your teeth will feel smooth and slimy. It will take a bit to get used to, but in a good way. I think you will be glad. One problem I had was discoloration (where the brackets were was whiter than the rest of my teeth) but maybe that was just me. It should clear up with some whitening toothpaste. Also I had retainers afterwards...so maybe you have that to look forward to. Don't worry they are way less painful and annoying than braces. Congrats and good luck!

It is freaking scary.
They take these pliers and this hammer thing and they chip them off.
But it doesn't hurt, it just feel like some one is pressing on your teeth. And you can taste a little of that nasty, sour glue.
sorry, still have braces. but i cant wait either! i should've done what you did, the not telling your friends...i didn't tell all my friends. so thanks for the idea! but, my friend said that it takes a while to get used to- but i think its better without.
I had braces for 6 years (yeah =X) and getting them off was really wonderful.
I finally didn't have to worry about what foods I could or could not eat. I no longer had to spend a good 10 minutes brushing my teeth every night, or had to worrry about food being visibly stuck in the metal.
And I finally had a beautiful smile =)
The only downside is the retainer. I must say it was a pain in the butt to wear, but you MUST wear it.
Getting the braces off didn't hurt AT ALL, and my teeth felt so smooth when they were gone - you'll know what I mean when you get them off.
Overall, you'll feel like a new person.

yeah i just got my braces off. youll have to wear a retainer for another year and its gross cuz food gets stuck in it. O.o
I was a trombone player in the band and had braces since I started playing. The day I got them off, I couldn't play anymore and had to practice a ton to get back as good as I had been. It was kind of like waking up and not knowing how to walk.
