Any advice on what to do...?!

Question: I've had this really bad toothache but just moved and haven't found a dentist near me yet. It's starting to make my ear ache, constant headaches. I'm in the worst pain. It's constantly there with sudden sharp pains [jaw and ear] every now and then. I'm on some antidepressants and can't take advil or any of the other over the counter meds. I've tried ambisol and orajel but neither are helping. Tried cold and heat compresses. I don't really know what to do for it, short of going to the er [which they have more important things than a toothache to take care of! not like they can do much but give me meds], that I can do? Thanks

i hope youre still there?? i just read your question...and yeah it's hell to have a toothache ei>?? it'll be advisable to really go to a dentist or better go to a medical doctor first so that he can give you the appropriate medicine for that pain without jeopardizing the fact taht your taking anti depressants too...there are many adverse effects taht we dont really know right? and we have to avoid that. but for the meantime, try adding salt to a lukewarm water and gargle with it...it could help. and try to avoid foods that are hard to chew so that you wont have a hard time eating

hope you get well soon

consult your dentist immediately, you might be having a root canal

no doubt, you are having root infection and must take antibiotics then take care of your teeth .

Don't delay on this. If you get an abscess (infected spot) in your jaw then you could have a serious medical problem on your hands. Jaw Bone infections can cause you to lose multiple teeth in the area, and can even spread to other parts of your skull. In extreme cases they can be life threatening.

Most likely you won't be that bad off, but you must take this seriously before it gets worse.

Are you sure you can't take and aspirin or advil type drug? I was on antidepressants for years and was never told that. Check with a pharmacist on that.
The pain will get worse so you should really find a dentist ASAP. ER is only going to give you pain meds.
Ask around your friends and neighbors for a recommendation for a dentist.

in order

1. have some paracetamol

2. find a doctors or dentist

3. GO THERE!!!

Take a raw piece of onion and chew on it (or, if it is too sensitive to chew, rest it on tooth) for about 5 minutes or until the pain relieves itself. I have heard that in very rare cases this doesn't work, especially if the tooth is SEVERELY infected and the pain has been prolonged for some time, or the infected tooth may be closed caries (cavity) however generally this can provide some substantial relief and has many a time cured a toothache for hours to days to months. Unfortunately the duration of this remedy is dependent on your situation.

PLEASE, IF THIS METHOD IS SUCCESSFUL FOR YOUR SITUATION, DO NOT USE IT AS A SUBSTITUTE TO VISITING YOUR DENTIST. IT MAY KILL THE INFECTION TEMPORARILY AND/OR RELIEVE THE PAIN, BUT THE ISSUE WILL STILL BE THERE.
