How long does it take to heal from tooth extraction?!

Question:

How long does it take to heal from tooth extraction?

Answers:

As far as pain, you should start noticing a reduction of pain in 4-5 days after the extraction itself. Keep taking any prescribed antibiotics and pain medication your dentist may have ordered for you. As far as how long it takes for the site to heal depends on several different factors (ex: how complicated the extraction was etc.) but most patients take several weeks to several months for the gums to completely heal and for the site to close. You may always feel a small indentation on the area where the tooth was extracted, but without problems (dry socket) you should start beginning the healing process very soon. As always if you have any questions or prolonged pain, contact your regular dentist as soon as possible.
