6 Cavities filled in one visit?!

Question: Is it too much in one visit? How long would it take? The doctor said they are all small cavities and when I look at my teeth, I do have small browning around the top cracks of my teeth(very minimal. They are on teeth #2,3,14,15,18,31 and they will all get resin filling. Will it hurt on certain teeth?

If the cavities are only on the 'chewing' surface, you may not need to be numb.... provided the decay is only in the enamel or slightly into the dentin.

These teeth are in all four quadrants of your mouth: 2 & 3 are the molars in the upper right, 14 & 15 are the molars in the upper left, 18 is a molar in the lower left, and 31 is a molar in the lower right. If you needed to be numb for this, your entire lower lip/tongue would be numb in addition to the upper left/right of your mouth.. that's a bit much.

You wouldn't be able to eat and/or drink right away, and you'd slur your words since your tongue would be too numb to cooperate...

If you're getting them all done at once, I would hope they are indeed small and there isn't a need for an anesthetic, or at least not for the entire mouth.

Good luck to you!

That is a lot for one visit if you are going to have to be numbed for all. That would mean you would have a completely numb mouth. This is not usually a good practice b/c it is very difficult to swallow. If they are so small that you won't need to be numbed then it might be ok.

That's actually not that bad. I had to take in my cousin for them (I was watching him, his parents were out of town). He is 15 and they did it in one visit, he had 7 on one side. They numbed his mouth and started. The most you feel is a slight bit of pressure with the anesthetic, he said. If you are sensitive to the sound of the drill bring earplugs. It won't hurt on certain teeth. It took Jason (my cousin) about an hour for the 7, but that's because it took so long for him to go numb (it doesn't work well on him).

That is not a lot to have in one visit. I had the same thing done a while back. They are going to numb you. Wouldn't you rather just go in once and be done? It won't hurt at all and you will be in and out in less than an hour. Then you can do whatever you need to do for the rest of the day. No pain at all.
